We have a big, heavy, clumsy, scary mandolin which I never use. I ordered this one in hopes it would be better. It is!! The fact that it's adjustable without having to have separate pieces is awesome! Just a quick slide of the switch and the size of the opening changes, and then slides closed, so the blade is not exposed when not in use. I keep it hanging on the inside of my cabinet and it's always ready, no looking for attachments. I set it right over a bowl and go. I recently used it to make pickles from a leftover seedless cucumber. I saved the pickle juice from a finished jar & added the thin cue slices. Great pickles!
